Google Inc.'s share of U.S. Web searches slipped ever so slightly in October while Yahoo Inc.'s share inched up, but the lineup of the top five search engines stayed the same.
About 3 billion U.S. Web searches were performed using Google in October, or 49.6 percent, compared with the company's 50 percent share in September, according to data from research group Nielsen/NetRatings. Total searches on Google grew 23 percent year-over-year.
