Quest Diagnostics Inc. (DGX) Stock Jumps on Earnings
Shares of medical testing company Quest Diagnostics Inc. jumped Tuesday after the company reported a 7 percent rise in second-quarter profit and narrowed its guidance for the full year.
The stock rose $3.41, or 6.5 percent, to $56.21 in midday trading. Shares have traded between $47.98 and $64.69 over the last 52 weeks.
On Tuesday the company said profit rose on a mix of higher revenue aided by the buyout of AmeriPath Inc. and lower costs. It also raised the lower end of its outlook for 2007 adjusted earnings to $2.80 per share from $2.75.
