Six Flags Inc. (SIX) Loss Widens
Theme-park operator Six Flags said its second-quarter loss widened on higher marketing and maintenance costs that offset higher revenue.
The company said late Thursday it posted a loss of $50.9 million, or 54 cents per share, compared to $45.1 million, or 48 cents per share in the second quarter of 2006.
Revenue increased to $344.8 million, up 6 percent from $325 million in the year-ago quarter.
Attendance increased 3 percent to 8.9 million, from 8.6 million in the prior-year quarter.
The company said its loss increased primarily due to higher in-park costs and marketing expenses.
