Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap Feb. 13th

Exxon (XOM), Conco-Phillips (COP), Schlumberger (SLB), Ultra Petroleum (UPL), Apache (APA), Anadarko (APC), XTO Energy (XTO), Arch Coal (ACI), Peabody Energy (BTU), First Solar (FSLR), Applied Materials (AMAT), MEMC Electronics (WFR), Mosaic (MOS), Deere (DE), CSX (CSX), Chicago Bridge and Iron (CBI), Jacobs Engineering (JEC), Shaw Group (SGR)
Contrary to popular belief, retail did not cause the rally in the Dow and the Nasdaq, but the culprit was oil, which is the umbrella that makes everything work. Not only did oil stocks like XOM, COP and SLB do well, but Cramer says oil will fuel other stocks the energy sector such as UPL, APA, XTO, ACI and BTU, as well as alternative energy plays FSLR (which reported a better-than-expected quarter and historically fabulous upside guidance), AMAT and WFR. Cramer considers ag stocks as members of the energy sector, given the development of ethanol, and would look at MOS, DE. He added rail such as CSX, and infrastructure, CBI, JEC and SGR will also rise with the oil umbrella.
Conviction Stock: FMC Corp (FMC)
A rally one day may spell a down day the next, and it is hard to know what a stock is really worth in this mad market, said Cramer. He was looking for a conviction stock which could give a little bit of certainty about what it was worth, and came up with FMC, a soda ash company in an underexposed sector which is currently enjoying a silent bull market. Soda ash is used to make glass, brick, water softener and most importantly, agricultural chemicals. Cramer says he feels certain that FMC will reach $70, a 30% upside.

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap Dec. 6th

Shaw Group (SGR), ABB (ABB)
Infrastructure is one of Cramer's favorite bull markets, and nuclear energy, particularly for emerging economies like India and China, is the sweet spot. Cramer's pick in this sector is Shaw Group, which reported a "beautiful quarter" with a 40% increase in revenue and a backlog of projects which is up 57% since last year and is triple the size of the company. Cramer prefers Shaw to ABB and added, "Given its diminutive size, I would be shocked if it was independent a year from now. But anyhow we like this one for the long haul."
Good as Gold: Yamana (AUY) Barrick (ABX)
Cramer reiterated his two favorite gold picks, Barrick and Yamana, as insurance against inflation. He stressed these are stocks to hold onto and should not be sold if one doesn't see immediate results. He noted AUY has a large mine in China, and ABX succeeds finding and producing more gold when other companies in the sector have stalled.
Sell Block: Peabody Energy (BTU), Massey Energy (MEE), Arch Coal (ACI), International Coal (ICO), Apache (APA), XTO Energy (XTO) Andarko (APC), ConcoPhillips (COP)
King Coal has been dethroned by a recent bill in Congress which threatens to raise dramatically the costs of burning the fuel, and will render stocks in the sector as "untouchable." While investors have been "coining money" with BTU, Cramer would sell the stock, as well as MEE, ACI and ICO. At the same time, Cramer declared "2008 is going to be the year for natural gas," and recommended buying XTO, APC, APA and COP.
CEO Interview: Matthew O'Connell, GeoEye (GEOY)
Matthew O'Connell announced the launch of the company's third satellite, and mentioned Boeing, General Dynamics and ITT participated in the production and launch of the satellite. "We paid up to get a great team," said O'Connell. Cramer said GEOY is and will remain a great speculative stock.

CNBC's Fast Money Recap Oct. 15th

Citigroup (C) brought back fears of credit problems. Citigroup reported a 57% decline in profits. Finerman: not surprised at the report. Macke: no reason to be long Citigroup. Adami: $45 is still the exit on the stop out for the Citigroup trade. Najarian pointed out E*Trade (ETFC) and Knight Capital (NITE), which are reporting earnings on Wednesday.
Louise Yamada, who has been ranked the #1 technical analyst on Wall Street, joined the show to discuss the stock market. She likes Broadcom (BRCM). The charts tell her that technology is the best place to be right now. Najarian thinks Broadcom looks great because it was tearing higher in a negative tape on Monday. He also thinks that the market is starting to digest the fact that oil at $85 is probably not a great thing. He highlighted the strength in Exxon Mobil (XOM) and Oil Service HOLDRs (OIH). He also advised investors to keep an eye on coal stocks like Peabody Energy (BTU) and Massey Energy (MEE).
Technology: IBM (
IBM), Yahoo! (YHOO) and Intel (INTC) are set to report earnings after the bell Tuesday. Macke: IBM will be the least surprising. Najarian: IBM options are pricing in a big move. Najarian favors Intel and deems them in the sweet spot. Macke: look at Yahoo! and any signs of the company breaking up will send the stock 10% higher.
Coca-Cola (KO) and Altria (MO) are set to report earnings on Wednesday. Finerman currently owns Altria. Adami: likes the dividend and agrees with Finerman on the valuation on Altria. Macke: Coca-Cola will benefit from a weak dollar and global growth. Najarian proposes Coca-Cola as a play on the growth in energy drinks.
Word on the Street
Chinese stocks continued to go higher Monday with the Hang Seng hitting record highs. PetroChina (PTR) passed up General Electric (GE) as the world's 2nd-largest company. Genentech (DNA) beat earnings estimates, but revenues fell short of Wall Street estimates. The former CEO of Children's Place (PLCE) has hired Bear Stearns to look at alternative options for the company. Macke would rather play Build-A-Bear Workshop (BBW) for a takeover play. SiRF Technology (SIRF) saw unusual options activity on Monday. Najarian participated by buying some SIRF call options Monday and feels the stock could move higher.
Pops & Drops
Pops-
U.S. Steel (X) traded up 2.5%
Saks (SKS) traded up 4%. Macke advises investors to get out of Saks.
Drops- Level 3 (LVLT) dropped 11%. They're looking for a new CFO.
Medtronic (MDT) fell 11%. Najarian counsels viewers to stay away.
Sallie Mae (SLM) dropped 4% on news that buyout firms are getting cold feet
Eaton (ETN) fell 4% after cutting its 4th quarter outlook. Adami considers keeping an eye on Honeywell (HON) to see if the sector is in trouble.
Regional Bank ETF (KRE) dropped 3%. Adami feels positive about U.S. Bancorp (USB) into earnings, but the KRE drop has him concerned.
Mattel (MAT) fell 1% on poor earnings due to the Chinese toy recalls. Macke prefers Hasbro (HAS), which he is long.
Final Trade
Macke would buy NRG Energy (NRG)
Adami prefers Short Dow30 PROSHARES (DOG) for a short the Dow play.
Finerman is sticking with Flowserve (FLS).
Najarian recommends Cypress (CY).

CNBC's Fast Money Recap Sept. 28th

The S&P 500 is now up 7.6% on the year, and the Dow is up 11.3%.
The commodity sector had its best monthly performance in 32 years. Adami: Scared that a gold company like Newmont (NEM) is down 8% from its high, while gold is near 27 year highs. Finerman suggests that the poor stock performance is due to company specific problems unrelated to the gold market. Najarian maintains that gold is going higher, but advises keeping an eye on coal stocks. His coal plays are BHP Billiton (BHP), Consol (CNX) and Peabody (BTU).
The Chinese Stock Market: put in its best quarterly performance ever. Everyone keeps calling a top in China, but Najarian feels there's still room on the upside. He favors China Mobile (CHL), China Unicom (CHU) and Baidu (BIDU). Adami continues to advise investors to take profits in China Mobile.
Technology: 52-week highs were achieved by leading technology stocks like Research In Motion (
RIMM) and Apple (AAPL). Najarian: "the wireless run that isn't over". He also steers investors to memory plays like SanDisk (SNDK) and Micron (MU). Macke owns Intel (INTC) for PC growth and continues to hold it. He sees it going to $30, if the consumer hangs in. Adami's attention is set on Microsoft (MSFT) and he is calling for it to trade up through $32.
Solar stocks: exploded higher this week. Najarian offers Cypress Semiconductor (
CY) which owns a chunk of SunPower (SPWR).
Word on the Street: General Motors (GM) traded higher after striking a deal with the United Auto Workers. Macke: Says that it was a great deal for General Motors and the labor union took it on the chin. The deal will also benefit Ford (F). Finerman: prefers the auto suppliers and picks Lear (LEA) as the best choice.
Consumer Stocks: Warnings from Target (
TGT) and Lowe's (LOW) helped to put pressure on consumer stocks this week. Macke points out that the consumer is a mixed bag right now, and regardless of the warnings, investors should own a best of breed stock like Target. Contrarian Najarian says sell Target and buy Kohl's (KSS)
Unknowns:
The unknowns are the US economy, the housing market and the credit crunch. Najarian: picks included Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (RIO), Manitowoc (MTW) and BHP Billiton. Adami: says Dell (DELL) is the best name. Knowing that commodities are a sure thing, he also recommends a farmer trade with Potash (POT) and Agrium (AGU). Macke: stick with stuff that has been working like McDonald's (MCD), Hewlett Packard (HPQ) and Intel. Finerman: lower risk with big multinationals that have safe balance sheets. Kraft (KFT), Estee Lauder (EL) and Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) come to mind.
Chartology: Louise Yamada, the highest ranked technical analyst on Wall Street from 2001-2004 was on the show. Yamada thinks the S&P 500 could go through the all-time highs, but the volume is less than impressive in her eyes. Adami: the market is setting up for a nice rally into next year. Yamada took a look at the chart of Cisco (
CSCO). She declares that CSCO is a buy right now and is poised to go much higher. Macke agreed and said that big cap tech is under owned. Lastly, Yamada analyzed the chart of Centex (CTX). She thinks that CTX can rally back to $40 and then investors should sell because ultimately, it's going to $10.
Fast Fire: Finerman recommended buying Brown Shoe (BWS). Since her call, BWS has dropped 7%. Finerman won't give up on BWS. Adami proposed buying Masco (MAS). Masco has traded down 5% since his call. Adami is more patient and says you can buy it down to $22.50. Najarian told traders to buy St. Jude (STJ). The stock has fallen 4%. Najarian won't budge on STJ.
Bulls: EchoStar (DISH). Macke nailed it and DISH is up 8% since his call. On August 17th Finerman gave out Daimler (DAI) for a buy. She was on the money and the stock was up a whopping 25% since her call. On August 18th Adami recommended getting long China Mobile. Adami hit this one out of the park. The stock is up 45% since his call. Najarian proposed solar plays with Trina Solar (TSL), Suntech Power (STP) and SunPower (SPWR). All three went up double digits since that recommendation.
Pops & Drops
Pops- eBay (EBAY) popped 22%, Amazon (AMZN) popped 35%, and Blue Nile (NILE) exploded up 56%. Macke says these are the toughest shorts on the planet. Najarian loves Apple (AAPL). Whole Foods (WFMI) traded up 27%.
Drops- Wal-Mart (WMT) fell 9%. Adami says if they can get margins higher WMT goes to $60. Merrill Lynch (MER) fell 17%.
Final Trade
Adami: Target even in light of the warnings.
Najarian: gave out Cypress Semiconductor as his solar play.
Finerman: likes Yahoo (YHOO)

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap June 18th

Coal is King: Consol Energy (NYSE: CNX), Arch Coal (NYSE: ACI), Peabody Energy (NYSE: BTU)
While initially Cramer thought the Democrats in Congress considered coal "too dirty" he recently learned they are pushing for a coals-to-liquid energy plan which will mean good things for the sector. "America is the Saudi Arabia of coal," he said. "Our coal sources are safer, cheaper and more stable than our sources for oil." In addition, China is starting to import U.S. coal which will mean big international business for coal companies. While Goldman Sachs downgraded coal because they don't have confidence in coal-to-liquids technology, Cramer said this shouldn't matter to investors. He likes CNX, a relatively safe investment with high cash margins, 64 years of reserves and a chance to be bought, and said ACI is more speculative. Cramer's favorite coal is BTU, since 8% of its reserves are in Australia, and it is the obvious supplier to China, which is dispensing with its coal tariff. The stock is cheap and the company is "leaner and meaner," since it is spinning off assets with slow growth. In addition BTU has great "visibility."
Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow: Yahoo! (NasdaqGS: YHOO)
Now that Terry Semel, CEO of Yahoo, is leaving, Cramer removed him from his Wall of Shame and predicted the stock would climb higher after its 4.6% gain in after-hours trading to $29.42.
Plenty of Room for LodgeNet Entertainment (NasdaqGM: LNET)
This supplier of interactive services to hotel rooms earned $23.43 per room last quarter, has since declined because of profit-taking, and Cramer would consider buying LNET but not after-hours and only with limit orders. LNET improved its market share and international exposure though its On Command acquisition, and is poised to become a "powerhouse of in-room services." The company is looking at hosptials and time shares.
