Jim Cramer's Stop Trading 3/25

Buy Deere (DE), Jim Cramer said on CNBC's "Stop Trading!" segment Tuesday.
Cramer pointed to the stock's continued rise as evidence that he's right. "You know why?" he said, "Because the fundamentals trump the analysts." He praised CEO Robert Lane for "making great inroads" with the company. Of sector rival Agco (AG), Cramer said, "I gotta tell you. I think Deere is coming for them. ... I like Deere and I like DuPont (DD)."
Cramer said he liked the stock market's performance today, "given the fact that consumer confidence's been bad." He said he's worried about big gains in Research In Motion (RIMM), a company he recommended on Monday's "Stop Trading!" segment.
"I still like Apple (AAPL), but I don't have a strong thesis on Apple other than I believe in the iPhone," Cramer said.
In the investment management space, Cramer was bearish on Fortress Investment Group (FIG) "I have Wes Edens in my hall of shame," Cramer said. "Everything they've touched has turned to stone. This is a castle in the sand."
Cramer also said he disapproved of Citigroup (C) CEO Vikram Pandit. "What's Pandit doing?" he asked. "Sometimes you've got to take bold action. ... The last four acquisitions that Chuckie Prince did, I would just unwind them."

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap Feb. 13th

Exxon (XOM), Conco-Phillips (COP), Schlumberger (SLB), Ultra Petroleum (UPL), Apache (APA), Anadarko (APC), XTO Energy (XTO), Arch Coal (ACI), Peabody Energy (BTU), First Solar (FSLR), Applied Materials (AMAT), MEMC Electronics (WFR), Mosaic (MOS), Deere (DE), CSX (CSX), Chicago Bridge and Iron (CBI), Jacobs Engineering (JEC), Shaw Group (SGR)
Contrary to popular belief, retail did not cause the rally in the Dow and the Nasdaq, but the culprit was oil, which is the umbrella that makes everything work. Not only did oil stocks like XOM, COP and SLB do well, but Cramer says oil will fuel other stocks the energy sector such as UPL, APA, XTO, ACI and BTU, as well as alternative energy plays FSLR (which reported a better-than-expected quarter and historically fabulous upside guidance), AMAT and WFR. Cramer considers ag stocks as members of the energy sector, given the development of ethanol, and would look at MOS, DE. He added rail such as CSX, and infrastructure, CBI, JEC and SGR will also rise with the oil umbrella.
Conviction Stock: FMC Corp (FMC)
A rally one day may spell a down day the next, and it is hard to know what a stock is really worth in this mad market, said Cramer. He was looking for a conviction stock which could give a little bit of certainty about what it was worth, and came up with FMC, a soda ash company in an underexposed sector which is currently enjoying a silent bull market. Soda ash is used to make glass, brick, water softener and most importantly, agricultural chemicals. Cramer says he feels certain that FMC will reach $70, a 30% upside.

Jim Cramer's Stop Trading Feb. 13th

Agriculture's stuck for the moment, but it's still a good long-term play, Jim Cramer said on CNBC's "Stop Trading!" segment Wednesday.
"Agrium (AGU) was on a monster good call," Cramer said, referring to the company's earnings report today. "I think Mosaic (MOS) is better than Agrium."
"I was concerned that Deere (DE) would come out and not say what the market wanted," Cramer said. He added that Potash (POT) has rolled over here.
Although he thinks the sector is great for the long term, "it's not all coming together right now." Of the agriculture stocks, he called Agrium "best in show right now, other than Mosaic."
For the group to pick back up, Cramer said, oil needs to reach $100 a barrel. "You gotta have that oil component come up," he stressed.
Still, some companies might be worth a look. "I think Deere ... makes a lot of sense here." He called the company a long-term buy. "Agrium is cheap. Mosaic is cheap." Cramer added that he likes fertilizer plays the best. "The group has stalled as a contingent except fertilizer. ... I think fertilizer is a worldwide oil and food play."
Cramer also pointed to natural gas, another group to watch. He likes Ultra Petroleum (UPL). He expressed exasperation that investors kept lamenting that nothing is hitting a new high.
"These stocks hit a new high every day. Coal hits a new high every day," he said. He concluded by stating he believes the global switch to natural gas is underway.

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap Feb 12th

Cleveland Cliffs (CLF), BHP Billington (BHP), Freeport-McMoran (FCX), Boeing (BA), Potash (POT), Deere (DE), Schlumberger (SLB), XTO Energy (XTO)
Tuesday saw the return of Cramer's five long-term bull markets: aerospace, minerals and mining, oil and oil service, agriculture and infrastructure, and those who believe that recovery is coming ruled the day. Aerospace was lifted by BA's news that, after several delays, the delivery of the long-awaited 787 Dreamliner may come on time. News of coal and copper shortages was good for BHP Billington and Freeport-McMoran. Cramer also recommended Cleveland Cliffs. Potash rallied after a bullish interview with CEO Bill Doyle. Cramer also mentioned his favorite ag stocks, Deere, and suggested investors buy more rather than worry about the sector on the next down day. Oil is well after Bear Stearns' upgrade of SLB and XTO's strong earnings. Infrastructure got a lift from Buffett's bid to rescue bond insurers, but Cramer warned that all of these gains could disappear, given how quickly the market has been moving.
CEO Interview: David Novak, Yum! Brands (YUM)
Cramer said Yum is one of the most pro-shareholder and pro-growth companies he has seen and is impressed by YUM's aggressive moves into China. In 2007, one new store was opened in China every day and three a day were opened in December 2007. Novak said the company's performance reminds him of how McDonalds began its initial expansion in the States. Domestic growth has not been forgotten, said Novak, adding the company will concentrate on desserts, healthier offerings and new beverages.

Jim Cramer's Stop Trading Jan. 15th

Citigroup (C) dropped the ball on today's earnings report, Jim Cramer said on CNBC's "Stop Trading!" segment Tuesday
I got this wrong," he said. "I expected bold action ... I didn't get bold action." Cramer was expecting CEO Vikram Pandit to take more writedowns this quarter to demonstrate that the bank was righting itself. "If you took all that capital ... I don't know why didn't you take out more of the bad."
Cramer added that saving triple-A rated bonds was a fool's errand. "Every other bit of triple-A ... is backed up by agency paper that you cannot afford. ... If you hide behind triple-A, it better be the American Automobile."
Pandit's management actions were not forceful enough either, Cramer believes. "I want to see [Japanese brokerage and Citi acquisition] Nikko Cordial out ... I want to hear a repudiation of previous management. ... It's time for [board member] Bob [Rubin] to move on."
The action by Citigroup was not decisive enough. "There was a chance the stock could've been up today. ... The stock could've been up if [Pandit] went clean clean clean," Cramer said. "I just wanted bold statements. I'm not asking for Jack Bauer."
Cramer recommended trading out of Citi common stock and buying convertible preferred shares. "I would love to be able to swap this," he said.
Cramer concluded the segment by issuing caution about a pick he'd been plugging for a long time: "Agriculture went parabolic yesterday. ... When stocks go parabolic, meaning they went up $8 like Mosaic (MOS) ... If you don't take something off the table, you're going to get hurt."
The entire agriculture sector is too hot lately, Cramer added, saying to watch out for stocks such as Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) and Deere (DE).

CNBC's Stop Trading Jan. 14th

Cramer believes one of the fund's names, Nokia (NOK), is underrated. "Nokia just went down ... under a misperception that it was getting killed. Nokia is the winner."
Cramer added that search behemoth Google (GOOG) is "just resting" ahead of its earnings report.
Of Corning (GLW), Cramer said "Everyone is panicking." Cramer owns Corning for his charitable trust, Action Alerts PLUS.
Cramer couldn't get behind all of Magellan's names, however. "The one that is the true glass-half-full for him and half-empty for me is Staples (SPLS). I just don't like retail at all."
To conclude, Cramer reaffirmed his belief in energy and agriculture plays, saying that Canadian Natural Resources (CNQ) was "so right." He added that Mosaic (MOS), John Deere (DE), Agrium (AGU) and Monsanto (MON) are still solid stocks.

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap Dec. 7th

The Fuel is Greener: Deere (DE), Monsanto (MON), Bunge (BG), Mosaic (MOS), Agrium (AGU), Potash (POT)
When looking at the agriculture bull market, Cramer urged investors to think energy and not food. As oil prices rise, the pressure to develop alternative fuels from soybeans and corn will increase. This has been good news for farming stocks such as Deere, Bunge and Monsanto and especially fertilizer companies, Agrium, Potash and Mosaic. "All of these gains have been driven by demand," Cramer said and sees years of upside in this sector. However, since many agriculture stocks have already increased substantially, Cramer would wait for a decline before buying many of them.
Still Time for NYSE Euronext (NYX)
While NYX has been the worst performing stock Cramer has seen in 26 years in the business, he would stay with it. His thesis for owning the stock is unchanged and the only reason NYX went down is because "it was just going down…. Even though you hate owning it, nothing fundamental has changed for the company underneath it." In fact, NYX keeps beating estimates, its fundamentals are better than they were at the beginning of the year, and Cramer thinks this bear raid on NYX can't last forever.
Sitting on the Fed Fence: Kroger (KR), Costco (COST)
Cramer advised a wait and see strategy concerning the Fed meeting on Tuesday. A quarter point cut in rates could lead to recession fears and may bring some stocks down. On the other hand, a half a point cut could be a buying opportunity for banks tech and industrials. If it weren’t for the meeting, Cramer would suggest buying Costco and Kroger ahead of their earnings reports, but now he recommends waiting before making a move.
Meet the Mutual Fund Manager: Ron Muhlenkamp of Muhlenkamp (MUHLX) with stocks: Altria (MO), Devon Energy (DVN), Cemex (CX)
Cramer said investing in a mutual fund is really an investment in the fund’s manager, and invited Ron Muhlenkamp to discuss his strategy of finding good companies at low prices, particularly names others don’t recognize yet or like. He discussed MO, one of the fund’s holdings and said there is room to grow for DVN and CX.

CNBC's Fast Money Recap Nov. 5th

Citigroup (C) fell 5% Monday after news of more write-downs and CEO Chuck Prince’s departure. Charlie Gasparino joined the show to give his opinion on Citigroup. He thinks that Citigroup didn’t pop on the news of Prince leaving because Chairman Robert Rubin failed to communicate the new Citigroup vision that everyone on Wall Street was looking for. Macke thinks that Citigroup has to clear the deck and bring in somebody new to run the company.
Chartology: Technical analyst John Roque of Natexis Bleichroeder was on the show to give his analysis on the technical signs in the market. Roque still likes the longer term trend line on the S&P moving average. He predicts that the financials will be under performers for a long time. Roque also points out that the trend for oil, silver and gold remains up and if history is a guide that up trend will continue. He is positive about Newmont Mining (NEM) and thinks the stock can trade into the high $80’s.
Ethanol: Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) is set to report earnings on Tuesday. Najarian tells investors to look to at Deere (DE) and Bunge (BG) instead. Adami would rather be in Potash (POT) for an ethanol play.
IAC/InterActive Corp (IACI) announced plans Monday to split up into 5 separate companies. Also, Kraft (KFT) is looking to sell its Post cereal business for $2.8 billion. Finerman is happy with the news. Macke also likes Kraft's plans, but he wasn’t a big fan of IAC/InterActive’s plans to spin off divisions. Najarian thinks that Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) could benefit from a break up.
Technology: Google (GOOG) announces plans to create an open platform, Android, for the mobile phone market. Sun Microsystems (JAVA) falls after hours on lighter then expected revenue numbers. Macke thinks companies like VMware (VMW) and its technology could put JAVA out of business in the future. Dell (DELL) announced plans on Monday to buy virtualization software maker EqualLogic for $1.4 billion. Activision (ATVI) reports a second quarter profit as revenue soars.
Word on the Street: Time Warner (TWX) CEO Richard Parsons will step down on January 1st and be replaced by Chief Operating Officer Jeffrey Bewkes. Finerman likes the retail stocks better than financials. She bought call options on Friday and Monday on Crocs (CROX) and also thinks Under Armour (UA) and Dick’s Sporting Goods (DKS) are interesting here. PetroChina (PTR) topped $1 trillion in market cap surpassing Exxon Mobil (XOM). Adami likes that Chevron (CVX) preformed okay in a lousy tape today.
Pops & Drops
Pops -First Solar (FSLR) traded up 10% after hours on news of a $1 billion module supply contract.
Marvel Entertainment (MVL) traded up 16% on a strong profits report.
Mattel (MAT) traded up 4%
Ballard Power Systems (BLDP) traded up 12%
WellCare Health Plans (WCG) popped 22% on a 67% increase in profits.
Sysco (SYY) traded up 2% after reporting a 16% rise in profits.

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap Sept. 19th

On Wednesday, Cramer said, "For everyone who missed out on the 400-point rally yesterday and today, I have one thing to say: It's not too late, you've barely missed a thing." Proof: Cramer said when the Fed realized the extent of its problems back in 1990, it was a great time to get into the market. Since then: Dow Jones up 10,000 points. People shouldn't pay attention to the "negative Nancies" that have been scared out of the market. Cramer says the rate cut has been great for so many stocks. Including: Kohl's (KSS), Target (TGT), as well as the banks. Also: Wachovia (WB), Downey Financial (DSL), and FirstFed Financial (FED). Cramer is still in the middle on homebuilders. He wouldn't touch Lennars (LEN) or KB Homeses (KBH), but wouldn't short them anymore.
AT&T (T): Cramer spent the next segment telling why AT&T is a good buy. It has a good dividend and has "totally reinvented itself as a growth company" by investing in telco companies. AT&T CFO Rick Linder was welcomed to the show and said the telco industry is resurging. Their wireless data, broadband, and video division are all taking off as well. Their acquisition of Apple's iPhone has been largely successful, especially since its price drop to $200.
Mad Mail: writer commented on Cisco's (CSCO) recent acquisition of wireless solutions company Cognio and asked if all WiFi companies are headed down the bandwidth road to the extent that Level 3 Communications (LVLT) will soon experience explosive revenue and profit growth.
Am I Diversified? Cramer's first caller asked if he was diversified with the following five stocks: Apple, Noble (NE), Potash (POT), Research In Motion (RIMM) and Schlumberger (SLB). Cramer pointed out two pairs with Apple and RIMM, and Noble and Schlumberger. Throw out Noble and Apple and add a defense play like Northrop Grumman (NOC) and a financial like Wachovia. Separately, Cramer said he prefers Deere (DE), Monsanto (MON) and Bunge (BG) to Potash.
His second caller named these five picks: Genentech (DNA), Fuel-Tech (FTEK), NightHawk Radiology (NHWK), L-1 Identity Solutions (ID) and US Gold (UXG). Cramer told the caller she had too much of a gambling portfolio with too many speculative stocks like ID, FTEK and UXG. He suggested getting out of those and into less speculative names.

Stock Market Wrapup Aug.15th

Stocks went on another roller-coaster ride today as earlier gains were wiped out and selling increased into the close. At the end of the session, the Dow lost -167 points, while the Nasdaq dropped -40 points. The S&P, meanwhile, lost 20 points, or -1.4% of its value. Continued fears of a meltdown in credit markets persisted along with increased selling on the part of institutions. Treasuries rose on the session, with
