Shares of Sigma Designs Inc., a maker of chips used in set-top boxes and DVD players, shot up in Monday's trading after an analyst set a premium price target on the stock and said the company may have won new business in Asia.
BWS Financial analyst Hamed Khorsand set a $40 price target on the stock, based on speculation that the company may have landed new business.
"We have learned that Sigma Designs may have won two major customers in Asia. The first being Taiwans Chunghwa Telecom; and the second being Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. Both carriers have announced adoption of IPTV technology based on Microsoft video decoding technology,"
