CNBC's Fast Money Recap Oct. 1st

The Dow Jones Industrial hit new highs on Monday as the market shook off a warning from Citigroup (C), which reported a 60% drop in earnings for the current quarter. The S&P 500 is within 9 points of a record and the NASDAQ hit a 6 year high. Finerman: surprised with the market strength on Monday. Najarian suggested that these are investors who sat on the sidelines during the summer. They are now putting money back into the markets in sectors like technology, commodities and financials. Gasparino: the worst is over for the financials.
Wireless
Nokia (NOK) bought NAVTEQ (NVT) for $8 billion. Najarian: this takeover suggests to him that M&A is not done. Research In Motion (RIMM) is set to report earnings on Thursday. Adami: if you're not already in Research In Motion don't buy it now. Palm (PALM) reported earnings after the bell Monday and traded lower after-hours. Najarian likes the new Centro smart phone that Palm is introducing and thinks the future is bright for PALM. Finerman: the valuation on NAVTEQ is over done and thinks the deal makes Garmin (GRMN) over valued and recommends buying puts on the GPS maker. Macke agrees with Finerman that Garmin is topped.
Global
Big runs in ETF names like Materials EFT (XLB), Tech ETF (XLK) and Energy ETF (XLF). Adami: companies like Fluor Corp (FLR) are up 87% in 9 months, McDermott (MDR) up 120% since January and Jacobs Engineering (JEC) is up 100% since January. He suspects these stocks are due for a pullback and taking profits in these names isn't a bad idea. Macke: Investors have to chase these stocks. Finerman prefers Flowserve (FLS).
Micron (MU): set to report earnings on Tuesday. Najarian: last week someone bought 27,000 call options on Micron, so keep an eye on it. He also wants investors to put ScanDisk (SNDK) on their watch list after the firm just opened up a plant in China. Adami: Micron is a buy.
Conferences
Investment conferences at Deutsche Bank, Jefferies and William Blair will catch investor's attention this week. Najarian: stocks to watch off these conferences are OSI Systems (OSIS), Cepheid (CPHD) and Manitowoc (MTW).
Earnings Warnings
Macke devised a three point checklist to watch as a warning sign from a firm's earnings reports. Any company that points the finger outside of things they can't control, doesn't have a solution, or has a warning that is 10% below estimates should be avoided. Walgreen's (WAG) gave all three of these today and that's why the stock fell apart. Macke: Don’t buy the dip on Walgreen's.
Pops & Drops
Pops- Time Warner (TWX) traded up 2%. Adami could see the stock moving from $18 to $28, if the CEO is ousted.
BorgWarner (BWA): popped 4% off a bullish Barron's article. Adami: still likes BWA.
Electronic Arts (ERTS): popped 4%. Macke: entire video game sector is going higher into the holidays.
AMR Corp (AMR): traded up 12% off a positive Barron's article. Adami says sell.
First Solar (FSLR): traded up 8%. Najarian continues to point investors to Cypress Semiconductor (CY) as the safest play in the solar space.
Drops- SuperValu (SVU): fell 6% after Bank of America downgraded the stock to a sell. Macke likes SVU right here and right now.
Acxiom (ACXM): plunged 20% after a $2.25 billion takeover offer fell through. Finerman wonders if something could be wrong at the company.
Final Trade
Macke advises buying Caterpillar (CAT).
Adami prefers Tesoro (TSO).
Finerman recommends YUM! Brands (YUM).
Najarian would go long Terra Industries (TRA).

CNBC's Fast Money Recap Sept. 28th

The S&P 500 is now up 7.6% on the year, and the Dow is up 11.3%.
The commodity sector had its best monthly performance in 32 years. Adami: Scared that a gold company like Newmont (NEM) is down 8% from its high, while gold is near 27 year highs. Finerman suggests that the poor stock performance is due to company specific problems unrelated to the gold market. Najarian maintains that gold is going higher, but advises keeping an eye on coal stocks. His coal plays are BHP Billiton (BHP), Consol (CNX) and Peabody (BTU).
The Chinese Stock Market: put in its best quarterly performance ever. Everyone keeps calling a top in China, but Najarian feels there's still room on the upside. He favors China Mobile (CHL), China Unicom (CHU) and Baidu (BIDU). Adami continues to advise investors to take profits in China Mobile.
Technology: 52-week highs were achieved by leading technology stocks like Research In Motion (
RIMM) and Apple (AAPL). Najarian: "the wireless run that isn't over". He also steers investors to memory plays like SanDisk (SNDK) and Micron (MU). Macke owns Intel (INTC) for PC growth and continues to hold it. He sees it going to $30, if the consumer hangs in. Adami's attention is set on Microsoft (MSFT) and he is calling for it to trade up through $32.
Solar stocks: exploded higher this week. Najarian offers Cypress Semiconductor (
CY) which owns a chunk of SunPower (SPWR).
Word on the Street: General Motors (GM) traded higher after striking a deal with the United Auto Workers. Macke: Says that it was a great deal for General Motors and the labor union took it on the chin. The deal will also benefit Ford (F). Finerman: prefers the auto suppliers and picks Lear (LEA) as the best choice.
Consumer Stocks: Warnings from Target (
TGT) and Lowe's (LOW) helped to put pressure on consumer stocks this week. Macke points out that the consumer is a mixed bag right now, and regardless of the warnings, investors should own a best of breed stock like Target. Contrarian Najarian says sell Target and buy Kohl's (KSS)
Unknowns:
The unknowns are the US economy, the housing market and the credit crunch. Najarian: picks included Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (RIO), Manitowoc (MTW) and BHP Billiton. Adami: says Dell (DELL) is the best name. Knowing that commodities are a sure thing, he also recommends a farmer trade with Potash (POT) and Agrium (AGU). Macke: stick with stuff that has been working like McDonald's (MCD), Hewlett Packard (HPQ) and Intel. Finerman: lower risk with big multinationals that have safe balance sheets. Kraft (KFT), Estee Lauder (EL) and Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) come to mind.
Chartology: Louise Yamada, the highest ranked technical analyst on Wall Street from 2001-2004 was on the show. Yamada thinks the S&P 500 could go through the all-time highs, but the volume is less than impressive in her eyes. Adami: the market is setting up for a nice rally into next year. Yamada took a look at the chart of Cisco (
CSCO). She declares that CSCO is a buy right now and is poised to go much higher. Macke agreed and said that big cap tech is under owned. Lastly, Yamada analyzed the chart of Centex (CTX). She thinks that CTX can rally back to $40 and then investors should sell because ultimately, it's going to $10.
Fast Fire: Finerman recommended buying Brown Shoe (BWS). Since her call, BWS has dropped 7%. Finerman won't give up on BWS. Adami proposed buying Masco (MAS). Masco has traded down 5% since his call. Adami is more patient and says you can buy it down to $22.50. Najarian told traders to buy St. Jude (STJ). The stock has fallen 4%. Najarian won't budge on STJ.
Bulls: EchoStar (DISH). Macke nailed it and DISH is up 8% since his call. On August 17th Finerman gave out Daimler (DAI) for a buy. She was on the money and the stock was up a whopping 25% since her call. On August 18th Adami recommended getting long China Mobile. Adami hit this one out of the park. The stock is up 45% since his call. Najarian proposed solar plays with Trina Solar (TSL), Suntech Power (STP) and SunPower (SPWR). All three went up double digits since that recommendation.
Pops & Drops
Pops- eBay (EBAY) popped 22%, Amazon (AMZN) popped 35%, and Blue Nile (NILE) exploded up 56%. Macke says these are the toughest shorts on the planet. Najarian loves Apple (AAPL). Whole Foods (WFMI) traded up 27%.
Drops- Wal-Mart (WMT) fell 9%. Adami says if they can get margins higher WMT goes to $60. Merrill Lynch (MER) fell 17%.
Final Trade
Adami: Target even in light of the warnings.
Najarian: gave out Cypress Semiconductor as his solar play.
Finerman: likes Yahoo (YHOO)

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap July 23rd

Get Tech Now: Sundisk (NasdaqGS: SNDK - News)
Cramer says now is the time to buy tech ahead of the back-to-school and holiday shopping season. He likes SNDK, which supplies computer parts, and since manufacturers will need to speed up production in August, Cramer would buy SNDK right away. In addition SNDK is the largest producer of flash technology products, a hot area in tech. The company reported earnings at 30 cents a share and exceeded estimates by 14 cents.
OceanFreight (NasdaqGM: OCNF - News) and Star Maritime (AMEX: SEA - News)
While Cramer has not been a fan of dry bulk shipping in the past, he has changed his mind after discovering how much iron ore and coal is being shipped between countries as global demand increases. His two dry bulk shipping picks are OCNF and SEA which do not offer a dividend yet, but are expected to, since dry bulk shipping is a "classic big dividend" industry. He would not these stocks more than 25 cents from where they are now; OCNF sells at at $22.61 and SEA is $13.24.
CEO Interview: Steven Leer Arch Coal (NYSE: ACI - News)
Cramer asked Leer how coal is going to be profitable when many in Congress calling for a ban on coal. "Coal supplies 50% of our energy and electric generation, and that number is projected to grow," Leer responded. He added coal is the classic cheap fuel and the world is going to continue needing more energy. Cramer commented; "who's to say that out-of-favor energy stocks won't come back?"
